Could this be Sandpoint’s next train station?

We have all heard about them, but few know what they actually look like. What I am talking about of course is the now infamous Amshacks. Let me start with the definition of Amshack.

Source: Urban Dictionary
Amshack: a small temporary-looking Amtrak train station resembling a bus shelter or shack, usually replacing a larger, older more opulent station. A symbol of the decline of passenger rail in the United States.

Case in point, the current Windsor Locks Amtrak station in Connecticut that replaced a historic depot which is trying to  be restored by the Windsor Locks Preservation Association.

Here is what the current Amtrak station in Windsor Locks looks like, keep in mind they get snow in Connecticut:

Here is what the previous historic station in Windsor Locks, CT looks like:

Now I realize the historic depot needs some serious work, but it was built in 1875 after all. I think the station looks pretty darn good for its age. The design even looks a little like our previous station.

So, the question to ask yourself is, what would you be more proud to have in your community? We have the opportunity to stand up and make a difference, will you join us?
