Sandpoint National Train Day – Sneak Peek

National Train DayAfter helping with Train Day setup this afternoon at the Sandpoint Community Hall, I am excited. The Bonner County Historical Society really out did themselves. There are more than 35 historic photos of trains all setup on beautiful easels for easy viewing. Dan Hall brought a huge photo of the Sandpoint Train Depot that shows the original tile roof in its full glory and to top it off, we have the last two remaining original tiles from the old roof on display right next to the photo. There is also a completely restored Velocipede designed for rail use on display and a small N-Scale model of the train bridge that used to run along highway 95 over Sand Creek. Several steam train photo books will be available for browsing through as well. Last but not least, we have a display about “Hobo Signs”, you will just have to show up to satisfy your curiosity.

Don’t forget that we also have three speakers throughout the day that are sure to bring a wealth of knowledge about trains. The first speaker starts at 10 A.M. Download a flier about the event.

For those of you that cannot make it or are still wondering if they should show up, I have created a short, quick-and-dirty, sneak peek video that highlights a few of the photos and displays. Enjoy!
